When You Find Your Dream Family

There’s something pretty damn special about finding people who you just click with. I met the Hinton’s in the beautiful Sussex Inlet area. Originally we had planned to shoot at Swan Lake, but it was windy and felt pretty miserable so we decided to move down to Berrara Beach and I am so glad we did.

I had this idea in my head that we would shoot over the lake and get a beautiful sunset over the water so I was pretty disappointed when the weather didn’t turn out. But do you know what? I am so fucking glad we moved because we were blessed with one of the most glorious golden hours I have experienced. It’s hard sometimes to change an idea in your head of how something should plan out but in this instance, I learnt that change can definitely be for the better!

A Session Full of Laughter and Connection

This session was all about connection with each other while disconnecting from the everyday. When I asked Jess what they like to do in their free time, she shared with me that her husband Sam would tirelessly work on renovating their home. I strongly resonated with this because we have been renovating our has for almost 4 years now and most free time we have is spent doing something around the house.

I really wanted to focus on the beauty of spending time together, surrounded by nature, with nothing to focus on but each other.

One of my favourite moments from this session was watching how relaxed the kids were. Their joy was so contagious and I think you can tell just how beautifully natured they are from the photos.

This family truly embraced the beauty of the South Coast after moving down here recently from South of Sydney.

What made this session stand out what how quickly Alice warmed up. Her parents had mentioned that she usually takes time to feel comfortable around new people but she surprised everyone by diving right into the fun. We explored Berrara beach, the rock pools and watched for whales.

Celebrating Unapologetically Unique Kids

When I asked Jess and Sam what the best part about being Alice and Tom’s parents is, their answer warmed my heart: ‘Watching them be themselves. Unapologetically themselves and how proud we are of every single thing they do’

During our session, the pride and love they have for their kids was so evident. For them, moving to the South Coast was all about being able to spend a more authentic life together as a family and you could really tell that everything they do is for their kids enjoyment and happiness.

Family Adventures on the South Coast of NSW

If you love the outdoors as much as this family does, the South Coast is a dream location for adventure and connection. ‘Happy, playful and curious’ are the way the family described themselves and honestly they nailed it. My ideal client possesses these traits and loves to embrace what the South Coast area can offer.

What made this session truly special wasn’t just the stunning location or perfect golden light (though that definitely helped). It was the way Jess, Sam, Alice and Tom ebraced the experience, letting go of expectations and just being together. That’s the beauty of relaxed, documentary style family photography, you get to live in the moment while I get to capture images that you get to enjoy for years to come.

If you’re considering a family photography session and love the idea of capturing your family against the backdrop of the NSW South Coast, Kiama or Wollongong, I’d love to chat!

Let’s create something magical together.
