Talk about me!

Meeting new people can be a little intimidating, especially for toddlers. That’s why I recommend you start talking about me ahead of time, so your little ones aren’t surprised when meeting a "stranger" on the day of the session. I’ll introduce myself to your children, and hopefully, they’ll already know my name because you’ve been chatting about me at home!

Don’t Force the Smiles — Let the Outdoors Inspire Them!

When we’re out in the beautiful landscapes of Wollongong or Kiama, there’s no need to pressure your kids into smiling. I love to create a relaxed, playful atmosphere where your children can enjoy the natural surroundings — whether it's the waves crashing on the shore or the breeze in the hills. Authentic, joyful moments happen when kids feel relaxed, not forced. I’ve got plenty of tricks and games up my sleeve to ensure everyone has a fun time.

Lead by Example — Enjoy the Outdoors!

Kids are great at mirroring the energy of those around them. If you and your partner are excited, relaxed, and enjoying the coastal or outdoor setting, your little ones will follow your lead. Make the most of the beautiful outdoor locations in Wollongong and Kiama by treating the session like an adventure! Whether we’re playing on the beach or exploring a scenic lookout, talk about how much fun we’re going to have together.

On the day of our session, be sure to get everyone excited. Chat in the car about the beach we’re headed to, the fun we’ll have, and all the games we’ll play. Let your kids know that I have plenty of fun activities in store for them to enjoy during our shoot!

Consider a Sunrise Session for the Best Light and Experience

Families in Wollongong and Kiama know that the South Coast offers some of the most breathtaking sunrises. And while waking up early might seem like a challenge, it’s a great way to create excitement and adventure for your kids. Imagine waking them up and saying, “We’re going on an early morning adventure!” The soft light of sunrise on the beach or at a scenic lookout can create magical moments. Plus, mornings are often the best time for toddlers to be happy and energized.

If a sunset session is more your style, make sure your kids are well-fed and have had a relaxing day. The temperature can drop quickly by the coast, so be sure to bring warm layers to keep everyone comfortable as the sun sets over the ocean or rolling hills.

Make It Fun for Your Toddlers

Finally, remember that the goal is to have fun! Our session should feel like an outdoor adventure in your favorite Wollongong or Kiama spot. Whether it’s a day at the beach, a walk through a national park, or a session in a favorite local spot, the more relaxed and fun the experience, the better the photos will be.
